On GENI and in genealogy we often come across this .
The papertrail shows different parents than genetics show.
1. Adopted children --llegal and illegal
2. Children from sperm donors -- children often do not know of this
3 . Spouse hiding the truth ?
I personally know of relatives baptised as the child of their grandparents or another relative to hide illegitimate birth .
Also children adopted from unwed parents by a complete stranger then baptised or registered as child of those parents .
However how to present that on GENI ?
In history we all know of some of the illegitimate children of famous Kings or Queens or other famous/infamous individuals .
Some never acknowledged but now proven with modern genetics .
How many fathers are unaware of what Richard Mason had to discover and yet he still accept those children as his .
Even in SA the Appel/Botha case a good example how the mother swore in court that Botha was the father of all her children . Did she lie or could she not remember ?
Other DNA testing have shown similar .
