My husband is a direct male descent of James Thomas through his son Rev. Simeon Hatcher. He is participating in a Y-DNA project with both the Hatcher and Lankford/Langford families. Y-DNA results have proven that James Thomas is not a descendant of the Hatchers, but is a male descendant of the Lankford/Langfords. We have upgraded the Y-DNA testing to narrow down the Lankford/Langford line. It is likely James Thomas is a direct descendant of Henry Lankford Sr. appx 1734-1830. What is known is this Lankford line can be traced to Edward Langford 1620-1646 who came to the British American colonies as an indentured servant.
