Thanks for pointing it out. Perhaps someone put the K. as a middle name to go with his mother's maiden name, Kendig. I see many people trying to do that as a notation, but not an "official name".
I don't automatically associate Isaac with him either. There actually were a couple of distinctly different early Herr family groups who get mixed up a lot.
He's my 7th Great Grandfather and I have a number of articles about the early immigration. Let me look through the Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage site.
Now that I think about this, I think Hans Herr's (his father) parents and Hans wife (Christian/Christen;s mother) were uncovered a couple of years ago and it wasn't what the "standard" genealogy had... which seems to be what is in Geni now.
I can call the Mennonite Society early next week and see what the most current info is on him. The Hans Herr House built by Christian I think has the updated info.
Yes, the Hans Herr House was owned and built by Christian Herr. His middle name was not Isaac. In fact, documents do not contain any middle name. I do think Dean is correct that the "K" was added by someone to distinguish him from other Christian's by including his mother's maiden name. - K(endig)..
