Jan was married to Marie Adamec and had two daughters, Marie and Bozena. He left his wife and family in Straznice and arrived in New York in March 1910, with his brother-in-law, Pavel Adamec. He never returned to Straznice and the family did not hear from him after WW1. The last I could find for him was his 1918 draft registration card. His daughter, Bozena, tried desperately to find him, but could not. I am still searching.
The following are three Straznice census records
The Austrian Monarchy, 1880 Census Schedule, House 141, State District Archive Hodonin, Koupelni 10, 695 32 Hodonin, shows that Jan was born 3 March 1879. He could read and write. His language was Czech.
The 1900 census for house #239 in Straznice shows that Jan, born 9 March 1878, was a Czech soldier in the hunting battalion (c.K. Hunting Battalion No. 45vu in Nove Mesto).
The Dec. 1, 1910 Census for Straznice, Hodonin District, Moravia, showed that Jan was living at Alexandrine in America [He was in Detroit, Michigan].
