Hello.
I'm asking Private User to join this discussion because he seems to be holding the key to this MP.
I ask that
Yitzhack Jaffe be detached from Rabbi Aryeh Leib Jaffe Ginz and attached instead as a son to
Rabbi Aryeh Leib Jaffe Ginz

In this regard I would like to rely on the following source:
"מגילת יחש של משפחת יפה" גניגר, ישראל
(https://www.nli.org.il/he/books/NNL_ALEPH001142140/NLI)

This source is not in my possession, but Private User confirmed that this is indeed the case in the above source.

I think according to the above source,Yitzhack Jaffe would not have lived in Vishay, Lazdijai, Lithuania. But one should ask Private User

The initial building of this tree, many years ago, By Private User was based on the above source.
In my opinion the building should be continued according to the above source.
Still, it is worth noting that Randy Schoenberg Believes that one should rely only on Paul Jacobi https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000180057127283

I think a public debate can be helpful in this matter.
Thank you all.

The discussion here is a good idea. Right now we have conflicting genetic evidence...some who claim direct paternal line descent from R' Mordechai Jaffe (HaLevushim) are in YDNA haplogroup "I"...some are in haplogroup "J2a". If more men who believe they are paternal line heirs to this lineage also do a YDNA test, we may be able to determine which is correct. If we do that, then we may be better able to sort out the downstream genealogies---such as that of R' Arye Leib Jaffe Ginz et al. If anyone knows someone in that category who might be willing to test (best place for this YDNA testing is Family Tree DNA and they have sales regularly)---I am willing to help pay costs.

What is the evidence that Rabbi Aryeh Leib Jaffe Ginz is the son of Rabbi Mordechai Jaffe, Ba׳al "Halevushim"? Is there a source other than a simple tree listing names that someone put together in th last 150 years?

Dr. Borer, you tend to relay on book published over 30 years ago, which is not a lot in terms of history but a lot in terms of genealogical research. I tend to be more cautious. As for Debra's remark - I am R'Mordechai descendant from my mother side, can't help

Debra Katz

If you are interested in finding men who are descendants of Rabbi Mordechai Jaffe (HaLevushim), you can post in different groups for genealogy (like Randy's group), I am sure you will find such descendants who will agree to perform the test

I, for example, his descendant through my grandfather's mother, but here too there is between him and me ancient mothers

And perhaps check the sources he brings

These are his sources on Rabbi YAFE:
ביבליוגרפיא: האראדעצקי בהאשכול ח"ג 69 - 90; פערלעס, געשיכטע דער יודען אין פאזען; גרעץ געשיכטע ח"ד 645.

One should check in Heinrich Hirsch Graetz's book:
Geschichte der Juden
Part Four Page 645
I do not read German

And here too check:

Answer to Debra Katz
Probably need to find a man who is a descendant of
Yisroel Yofe
For Y-DNA testing. Maybe this will solve the problem.

There are endless sources on Rabi Jaffe. What we need is a REAL source on any children he may have had. Is there one?

Ok, found at least one source. For the grandson Avraham Aberl Jaffehis tombstone recorded by Feuchtwang, https://sammlungen.ub.uni-frankfurt.de/freimann/content/pageview/17....

Maybe someone can find this source?

D. Kaufmann in Nissenbaum's "Le-Ḳorot ha-Yehudim be-Lublin," Warsaw, 1899

There is also nothing in Graetz, IV p. 645 (English). https://archive.org/details/historyofjews04grae/page/644/mode/2up?v...

By the way, the way Avraham Aberl Jaffe's tombstone is written, the connection could also be through the mother, but let's see what else is out there about the father Perez. Maybe something can be found in https://hebrewbooks.org/44194

Private User maybe you can help me with pages 25-27 of https://hebrewbooks.org/44194. What does it say about the children of Rabbi Mordechai Jaffe, Ba׳al "Halevushim", if anything? David Kaufmann is usually a good source.

https://hebrewbooks.org/44194
it is written that among his children were
1. Avraham Abril died in Nukolsburg
2. a daughter , the wife of the physician Yechiel Muchel Halevi Epstein

R. Mordechai left after him 2 sons and 3 daughters
1. Pererz Jafe d. 1647
2. Arye Leib Jaffe
3. Vollke wife of Shmuel Wahl
4. Belia wife of Yechuel Epstein
5. a daughter wife of Benjamin Wolf Ginzburg

And does it give any evidence for where he found those children? Grave? Location? Books? The note about Avraham Aberl is wrong, as the tombstone found by Feuchtwang shows. I wonder if there are any other mistakes and what the actual source was?

Is that section "R. Mordechai left after him 2 sons and 3 daughters" etc. in the book by Kaufmann? What page?

sometimes a grandson appears as son.

section "R. Mordechai left after him 2 sons and 3 daughters" etc.
Found in Julius (Judah David) Eisenstein book:

Here is a good source (1761) for the existence of Arya Leib, a son of Baal Halevushim. This source also mentions a daughter of Arye Leib, Yuta.
