Due to extensive research by a family member, we believe that Joseph Nickerson Wright was actually born before 1815, and probably closer to 1808-1809.
There are several pieces of information that lead us to that conclusion.
Jan. 26, 1930 Elizabeth Reed married James Smith, and Joseph N. Wright was their Bondsman.
Elizabeth was a close relative of Lucinda Reed who married James W. Wright in Maury Co., TN in 1820.
James W. Wright is Joseph Nickerson Wright's brother, and they lived on adjacent properties.
Thus, assuming that the Bondsman Joseph N. Wright is our Joseph Nickerson Wright, he would have had to have been at least 21-years-old in 1830 when he signed the legal document.
Also, Joseph N. Wright's name is on the County Tax Records from 1834 & 1835, requiring an age of 21.
Thus, Joseph Nickerson Wright's birth year is more likely 1808-1809.
If any family Bible or other official documentation exists to verify Joseph Nickerson Wright's date of birth, we have not been able to find it.
Also, our family branch (Adam Mitchell Wright, son of Joseph Nickerson Wright & Nancy A. Lowery) has no documentation as to his parents being John R. Wright and Rebecca Ann Whitmire.
