I've seen his birthdate listed as 7 Apr 1683; 7 Apr 1688; and 1675. All three dates seem to be, UNSOURCED. So where did the 7 Apr 1683/1688 come from? I have searched high and low with NO DEFINITIVE explanation. Personally I believe, Cornelius II was the son of Cornelius I and his FIRST WIFE "Eedeth Moryson". especially in light of the simple precept that most juniors are named such as they're usually the first sons of seniors.

The 1688 date comes from a previous version of FindAGrave, which currently reads 1675. (There is no circa or alternative birth field at FindAGrave.)

I’ll think on a better way to show the ambiguity of his birth date in Geni.

https://www.dabney-early-virginia.info/getperson.php?personID=I462&... was the study recommended by a historian, and they place him as “born about 1686.”

I am a member of the Jamestowne Society through Cornelius Dabney, the interpreter. His son, Cornelius Dabney II is the son of Cornelius Dabney, the interpreter, and his second wife Susannah, no last name Susannah names her children in her will with the last name of Anderson, as she married David Anderson following the death of Cornelius Dabney. The will can be found at Hanover Co. VA, Bk 1, pg 632. She names all of her children by Cornelius Dabney. Cornelius Dabney married Sarah Jennings. There is no definitive birth date for Cornelius Dabney II. So Cornelius Dabney II is not the son of Eedeth Moryson. The only children of Eedeth Moryson and Cornelius Dabney are James, George and Sarah.

I am a descendant of Cornelius Dabney II through his daughter Frances Jennings Dabney Maupin. In his will there are named three Cornelius'. The first is the writer of the will, the 2nd is his deceased son and the third is a witness to the will.

My question: Is 'Bob' one of his sons?
