Clarence Earl PATEMAN married Daisy BAILEY in Five Dock on 14 Sep 1935 however, when Daisy died on 11 February 1938 in the Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown, her death notice only mentioned her parents and siblings - there is nothing from her husband. Her funeral notice does not indicate any family but rather just states the facts of the funeral.
Sydney Morning Herald, Sat 12 Feb 1938, pg 10 - Family Notices - DEATHS

It seems that he went by the name of Earl PATEMAN as I have found a couple of articles about him especially of interest is when he visited his mother in Yamba in 1941 (sourced from Trove) in the Grafton local paper - did the family come from Yamba? She was a widow then as the article refers to her as Mrs. A.C. Patemen.
He is again referred to in Murwillumbah when a thief is convicted of stealing from "Mr. Earl Clarence Pateman" on 13 July 1945 in the Tweed Daily newspaper.
A researcher in Ancestry notes his death in 2006. Anyhow, I hope this helps you.
Kind regards, Fran Cashman
