This may be a naive question, but why does Geni allow users to make profiles private for people who were born over 150 years ago? When originally choosing a site what interested me about Geni was the concept of a world tree and the collaborative aspect of the site. There are better websites suited for personal trees, including the sister site My Heritage. It seems that the concept of the world tree is hindered by people who mark profiles private when they should be public. I'm not sure why we are given the option at all? It would make merging much easier and there would be way less blue plus signs waiting for people who will never, ever merge them.
