The William Pierce Jr., who was married to Lois Thomas and son of William Pierce Sr. and Joanna Doggett is NOT William Rounseville Pierce born on 19 Apr 1764. They were two different William's.
William Pierce Jr. - b. 1766 in Middleboro, Plymouth, Massachusetts / d. 1814 in Orange Township, Meigs, Ohio. M. Lois Thomas / Son of William Pierce Sr. and Joanna Doggett. This William was listed as William Jr. on his marriage record to Lois Thomas.
William Rounseville Pierce - b. 19 Apr 1764 Middleboro, Plymouth, Massachusetts / d. 15 May 1794 in Middleboro, Plymouth, Massacusetts. M. Lenora Jones / Son of Job Pierce and Elizabeth Rounseville (hence his middle name). This William has a birth record with this birth date that lists Job and Elizabeth as the parents.
There are hundreds of trees on Ancestry that have this incorrect and I am chipping away at notifying people so the correction can be made. I have made the notification on FamilySearch and WikiTree. The main tree sites, Ancestry and MyHeritage, are harder as I have to send a message individually to each person.
I would appreciate if you could make the correction in your trees at your earliest convenience to stop this error from spreading further.
