Andrew Washington Carson is my ggg-grandfather. I have a copy of a letter written by A. W. Carson on 8 May 1861 to Kit Carson, his first cousin, in which he states that he had six sons and three daughters, of which only 2 sons and 2 daughters survived on that date. The surviving males were Robert A. Carson who lived until 1914 and John Augustus, who died the year after the letter was written in Camp Chase prison camp and is buried there. The Carson cemetery is on property still in my family and 4 of the six sons are buried along with their parents in this Carson Cemetery in Puryear, Henry County, Tennessee.. One son died in 1836 at the age of three. James is shown as dying in 1881. He is not mentioned in the will or the lawsuit which followed. He has certainly been connected to the wrong parents.
