Wrong parents for my 2nd great grandfather, Joseph Manuel (or Emanuel) Gleaton parents were William “Willis” Gleaton born June 6, 1842 and Arena Chavis born September, 1848 SC. Joseph Emanuel married my 2nd great grandmother, Frances Spires born May 1881 SC. Frances was my mother’s heart as well as her daughter, Dollie Gleaton who I remember well. We have a picture of 5 generations including all of them beginning with Frances (2nd great) through my sister. It’s a very special picture, and there are numerous relatives still very much alive who can attest to the parents of Joseph Manuel Gleaton, and they were not Joseph Howell Gleaton and Mary Rutland.
