According to recent note in DAR Patriot database, they list William's wife as "Ann Rogers" now: 1) THE PATRIOT'S WIFE WAS NAMED ANN ROGERS, NOT ANN WEBBER. SEE DATACF 7/2021. (DAR listing has Ann Weber as wife of William's son Richard. Does a correction need to be made here, as well?

WHY:
Data in the correction file
This indicates that the Genealogy Office has a corrections file on this patriot. The line is currently open to membership. The DATACFs are the working files of the corrections team and are NOT available to the public due to the sometimes sensitive nature of the contents. There are a variety of reasons why a file may have been created.

The line may have been closed at one point but then reopened.
In some cases the DATACF could have been retained in order to have a paper trail explaining why the line was closed then reopened.
A DATACF may also include information on several men of the same name or on an extended family with several patriots.
Please refer to the comment section for more specific information on this ancestor.

It would not be a simple name correction as Ann Barbara Ligon 's tree is fairly well built out

Looking.... perhaps a second wife? Prior marriage for HER to a Rogers?... I am not able to view the DATACF

Is this the source of confusion? Ann's mother is Rogers....

https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-1-272433461-3-514/ann-we... accepted Smart Match on the profile gives Ann Webber Ligon's MOTHER was Ann Rogers and this is the same as the Geni profile shows.

Wikitree profile has broken links.

This one lists Ann Rogers as wife of William Ligon III: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ligon-240
There are TWO profiles for William III which will hopefully be merged and corected: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Webber-1471

John Pritchett in The Virginians names William Ligon's wife as Anne ROGERS and states the following: "The Ligon Family and Connections identifies William’s wife, Ann, was Anne Webber, a daughter of John Webber and states that they married about 1744. This conclusion is apparently based on an 1816-court order for Rodophil Jeter, Allen Jeter, John Jeter and Austin Seay, or any three of them, to proceed to state and settle the accounts between Paschal McGleason, acting executor of James McGleason, deceased, who was executor of William Ligon, deceased, and Richard Ligon, grandson of John Webber, and make report to this court. Presuming 20 years to a generation, John Webber would have been born about 1704, to be the father of Anne Ligon. He could not have been living in 1816. William Ligon had a grandson named John Webber, but not a father-in-law. The 1738-will of Robert Rogers of Goochland County identified wife, Susanna, and an unmarried daughter named Ann. Four years later the distribution of his estate placed Anne as the wife of William Ligon. It is also notable that William and Anne named children Robert and Susanna, for her parents. Consequently, Anne Rogers is undoubtedly William’s wife."

Hi Cynthia: I'll have to delve further, but you seem to have good sources. The book "The Ligon Family and Connections" has William's wife as Ann Webber on p. 390 (link available here https://archive.org/details/ligonfamilyconne01ligo/page/390/mode/1up ) That seems to often be taken as the main authority on Ligons, but it was published back in 1947, I believe, so perhaps there is new additional info to be found that can clear this up. If William's mother-in-law was a Rogers by birth, perhaps that is where there is some confusion.

I do literally trust the Geni profile which shows Rogers as the mother-in-law over the DAR note but since I cannot access the DAR record and know what is says, I think it is important that those who can access it weigh in.
I think you are correct and l appreciate your input
:)
My dad’s mother was a Webber. I grew up with “Webber, two b’s” lol
