Jim and I have recently discovered on 23andMe that we are Half Brother & Sister as we share 25.46% of our DNA + 1895Cm's. My Father and his Mother are responsible for our surprise relationship. We were both born in December (I in L.A., California, 1942;, Jim in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, 1945)-- our December birthdays only days apart. My Father was stationed at Army Camp Chaffee, Ft. Smith, Arkansas in 1945 training to go to the front of the war in Europe. (I have documentation to prove his location there at the appropriate time). We are both about 25% Ashkenazi Jewish (23andMe says I have a Grandfather who is 100% Jewish and remains unknown at this time; concurrently there is no accounting for the Jewishness on the other side of my family). Therefore, my father must have been half Jewish and didn't know it, as his father was unknown to him. I was an only child my whole life until this surprise late in life. While, Jim grew up in a family as the youngest of 3 sibling brothers, with a whole range of family members and including lots of cousins.
Private User when I look at your profile I see:
Daughter of Joseph and P. E.
Wife of K. C.
Half sister of James LUTZ
When I look at James' profile I see:
Son of Joseph and A.
Husband of A. L. (C.)
Half brother of Linda Miller and O. L. (E.)
NB as a curator I can actually see each person's full name but I won't paste them here in a public thread.
So Geni is showing yourself and Jim as 1/2 siblings and Jim has an additional 1/2 sister (though perhaps that is not correct?)
Jim tells me I am his only (half) sister. Jessica by his first wife is his daughter, if that is to whom you are referring. She and I are genetically closer than his other children, as it happens to be that we have a much higher % of DNA + Cm's in common than any of his other children.
Jim is a half sibling to me (Linda Jo Miller-Carter); Lawrence George Lutz, Jr, and Edward Easter Lutz. He had no other siblings that we know of.
