The Richmond County, Georgia, Court probate records document two distinct Charles Burch families who lived in the McBean Creek/Spirit Creek area.
The first Charles Burch (b. about 1753?, d. about 1811) served in the Burke County, Georgia, Militia, during the American Revolutionary War. He obtained Georgia headwright grants, starting in the 1780’s, in Richmond County, Georgia. His first wife was named Marian ? and they had children. Marian’s date of death is unknown. Charles Burch later married Rebecca ?. Charles Burch died about 1811, in Richmond County. Rebecca lived in Richmond County, as late as 1830-1838. The children of Charles Burch and his wives were:

The second Charles Burch (b.?, in Georgia, d. about 1823) settled in the Spirit Creek area of Richmond County between 1817-1822. He obtained at least 250 acres of land in Richmond County. Charles Burch died about 1823, in Richmond County. His wife’s name was not identified in the Richmond County probate records. Richmond County probate records identify Charles Burch’s children as orphans.
