Hi, I am looking for any info on Hulda Augusta Blomquist's Parents from Finland. Her dad was Anton Blomquist and mom was Anna Laukka I believe. Looking for brothers and sisters from Hulda. Thanks.

Hi Joseph,

Some more info for you…

Hulda Augusta Blomquist emigrated in 1917. Her passenger records state that she came from Kristinestad (Kriistinankaupunki) and her mother was Anna Blomquist.

I looked at the Kristiinankaupunki church records and found Hulda’s birth record. She was born 12 April 1895, the illegitimate daughter of Anna Christina Blomquist. Her mother, Anna Christina Blomquist, was born 10 January 1865, also in Krisiinankaupunki, to a sailor named Johan Blomquist (born 16 August 1820-died 22 Jan 1894) and his wife Anna Christina Fröberg (born 5 February 1823-died 11 Sep 1893).

Hulda had several siblings as of the 1889-1898 communion books: Anni Maria (20 Jan 1887), Bertha Irene (9 Oct 1889), Albert Alfans (20 Oct 1892-died 20 Dec 1892), Elsa Josefina (22 Jan 1894-died 22 Apr 1894), Alma Elisabeth (23 Aug 1896), and Rosa Jolanda (15 Jan 1898). All are listed as illegitimate children.

Hope that helps

I just wanted to add that when she arrived at Ellis Island she had $25 in her possession and was headed to see a sister, Mrs. Annie Marie Blonk, at 24 Halatus Street (?), E Orange, New Jersey, Annie Marie is probably the Anni Maria mentioned in the communion books...just Americanized her name.
