It is in Riker's book The Annals of Newtown that he assumed with out any record that Capt. Titus Content had married Elizabeth Moore based on a land dispute in which Content Titus received 1/5 share of the land inherited by the heirs of John Moore. From careful analysis of chronology and available records, they suggest that Content Titus may have purchased Elizabeth's portion of her fathers estate, either from her step father or her husband William Osborn.

1670 William Osborn and Elizabeth Moore received a marriage license in the Province of New York on January 1, recorded in the Court of Assize 2:639. (1) "Lycence granted for William Osborn of Hempstead and Elizabeth Moore, daughter in law of Frances Doughty date, January 1st 1670 A:639 (2)
