It depends on the relation. If it is a relation between parents and child you may be able to choose the correct parents from the drop-down list on the relation tab on the child profile. If not you can go to tree view and move the child to the correct parent and specify it is a child of that parent. Refresh to screen and if necessary move the child to the other parent and specify it is also a child of that parent. After refreshing the screen the child should now have the correct parents.
For other relations ask for help in https://www.geni.com/discussions/216411
In this case-- https://www.geni.com/discussions/240920-- two people seem to have been confused for one, both named John Church. I was able to remove the parent-child relationship (@Samuel Alansing Church and @John L. Church) but creating a a differen John Church, but I could not remove the bad husband-wife relationship (@Samuel Alansing Church and @Marilla Church).
Can you help?
I could not remove the bad husband-wife relationship-- which was @John L. Church and @Marilla Church (not Samuel Alansing Church, misstated above)
Can you help?
I have removed the connection between them for you, but maybe it would have been better when I reversed a merge.
Cutting a relation with a partner or reversing a bad merge is something a curator can do. As far as I know you cannot do that yourself.
Be careful on what you ask. In some cases it may be better to reverse a merge and in others it may be better to cut a connection. The older the merge and the more that has happened to the profile after the merge the more error prone reversing the merge will be.
