I believe that Samuel Alansing Church (1842-1925) is listed as a son of this John L Church in error. John L Church's wife was Julia Ann Church. She was married to him during the time of Samuel's birth. Samuel's birthdate comes between that of Julia Ann's son William in 1840 and her daughter Julia in 1845.

Marilla is listed as Samuel's mother. She could not have been the first wife of John L Church in that Samuel's birthdate is 1842. John married Julia about 1829. She could not have been a second wife of John since he died 11 years before Julia.

My suggestion is that he should be removed as the son of this John Church. I added thee 1850 Census for John L Church in Waterloo, Seneca County, New York. Samuel is not listed as a member of John's household. I think that the families of 2 John Church's have been blended in this profile.
