The stone at Deep Run Mennonite West was a memorial for the two immigrants John and Christian Fretz. Rev Allen Fretz at the first and second Fretz reunions made a speech which is in the Fretz History, Vol 2. He referred to John and Christian leaving their homeland, crossing the ocean, settling in America and now lying in cemetary of the old church. Christian died in 1784. Deep Run West or New Mennonite Church was started in 1849 after they split from Deep Run Old Mennonite or East Church. Erma Keller
