@ GENERAL SIR JOHN MONASH ON HIS BOOK 'AUSTRALIAN VICTORIES IN FRANCE 1918' NOTE IN THE APPENDIX 'C' A LIEUT - COL THE HON J.D.Y. BINGHAM OF THE 8TH BATTALION IN THE 4TH AUSTRALIAN DIVISION. MANY ENGLISH OFFICERS WERE ATTACHED TO AUSTRALIAN BATTALIONS DURING THE WAR AND A BINGHAM WITH THE INITIALS J.D.Y. WOULD BE HIGHLY UNUSUAL YET I FIND NOTHING TO SUBSTANTIATE THAT THIS IS THE HON. JOHN DENNIS YELVERTON BINGHAM OF THE HUSSARS, THOUGH IS SUSPECT IT TO BE SO. CAN ANYONE VERIFY THIS FOR ME PLEASE, ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.
ALAN BINGHAM
