Hi everybody,
I would like to raise a problem: What is the evidence for him being a son of Moshe Jaacov Heilbut (died 1648) and Prive?
I am afraid that this is a mistake made by Jacobsen, who confused religious names in Hebrew with secular names in German. There is no evidence that Jakob (died 1720) was known as Jakob Moses in German. Both Jacobs were known as Moshe Yaacov in Hebrew, and as Jakob in German. So the second Jakob (died 1720) cannot have been a son of the first Jakob (died 1648). As a matter of fact, Duckesz writes that they were grandfather and grandson. The question is who is the father of the second Jakob? Unfortunately, the father's name is missing on the tombstone.
Does anyone know more?
Best wishes,
Jona
