I have been searching for the parents of Andrew Goodman, born about 1783, in Virginia, for years. I descend through his son, Andrew, his son Jacob, and his son Jacob. I am particularly interested in this Jacob Goodman from Washington County, Virginia (Beaver Creek Area). Whether he is the parent of my Andrew or not, there are a few familial connections to him.

My Andrew, born in Virginia, was living in Sullivan County (not a great distance from Washington County, Virginia), Tennessee, by 1810. Andrew married Catherine Saunders of Sullivan County, whose father was John Saunders, 1st, also born in Germany. Andrew served in the War of 1812, and was awarded land grants in Washington County, Tennessee. By 1830, he and his family were living there. As you verify, this Jacob Goodman, Sr., had a daughter named Catherine. Catherine Goodman married William Sitzler; they resided in Sullivan County, Tennessee; and there are land transactions between Catherine Goodman Sitzler (and her husband) with John Saunders, 1st and/or 2nd (the father and brother of my Catherine Saunders Goodman).

Also, Jacob Goodman's son, John, had a Jacob who married Artimesa "Artie" Wolford in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Jacob's and Artie's daughter, Katherine Goodman married Jackson Lafayette Cross (the brother of my third great grandfather, and the father of my second great grandmother, Catherine Cross who married my Jacob Goodman, Sr.).

In census records there are some from this Goodman line who lived in Sullivan County, Tennessee.

I am very interested to learn more about this line of Goodmans, and whether I am connected to Jacob Goodman, Sr., born 1744 in Germany.
