This is my latest findings about John Ernest Johnson that I wish to share with everyone interested in this branch of the family tree.
My family had three photos of people who were related to John Ernest Johnson in their photo album. One photo was of Mr and Mrs Backman's children, Jenny 9 år, Emmi 6 år, Adel 4 år. The Swedish word år means years. Another photo was of Mr Backman and his second wife. The third photo was of an infant wearing swedish clothing sitting on the same chair as the other two photos. These photos would have been taken in the late 1800s.
I searched for Jenny Backman and the other children. On the Geneanet website, I found a family tree that contained these children.

Erik Alfred Bäckman, born 23 Sep 1848, Kaskinen, Vaasa, Finland and Emma Oliver Renfors, born 05 Jul 1849, parents of these three children:
Jenny Olivia Bäckman, born 16 Mar 1876, Kristinestad, Finland
Emma Kristina Bäckman, born 21 May 1879, Kristinestad, Finland
Aline Adèle Bäckman, born 29 Mar 1881, Kristinestad, Finland.
Jenny married Yrjö Alarik Leistén, born 24 May 1878, Haukipudas, Finland.
Erik Alfred Bäckman married again to Hilda Sophia Damsten, born 15 May 1857, Maxmo, Lansi-Suomen Laani, Finland.
Erik and Hilda had one child. Ernst Alfred Lorenzo Bäckman, born 09 Sep 1884, Kristinestad, Finland
My source here was Rafael Olin on Geneanet. He had more information on Yrjö Alarik Leistén and that branch of the family.
The photo of the infant would be Ernst Alfred Lorenzo Backman. That is why he is on his own because he is the half brother of the three children. The three photos would have been taken about 1885. The dates and the childrens names fit with what I had.
On Family Search, I found Margaretha Christina Bäckman, born 30 Nov 1820, Kaskinen, Vaasa, Finland.
She had two sons, Johan Ernst Bäckman, born 15 January 1842 and Erik Alfred Bäckman.
Our family knew John Ernest Johnson changed his name. I believe his name was Johan Ernst Bäckman. He changed his name by putting in the Sydney Morning Herald his marriage notice stating he was John Ernest Johnson of Stockholm Sweden. I believe he identified as a Swedish man (living in Finland).
Our John Ernest Johnson called his youngest son, Ernest Lorenzo Johnson. (born 29 April 1893).
Erik Alfred Bäckman's son was called Ernst Alfred Lorenzo Bäckman (born 09 Sep 1884).
