Hi everybody,

I want to start a new discussion on the first generations of Heilbut in Hamburg.

The first topic I want to raise is the parents and sons of Philipp, known as Feibelman Yehoshua Yosef bar Yaacov in Jewish sources.

His profile mentions two sons called Jacob: Moshe Yaacov who died in 1648 and Jakob who died in 1720! Obviously this is a mistake.

According to Duckesz, Moshe Yaacov who died in 1648 was the father of Feibelman. But how do we know that Prive, the wife of Moshe Yaakov, was the mother of Feibelman?

The tombstone of Jakob from 1720 does not mention his father's name. Who knows the name of his father? He cannot have been a son of Feibelman, because Feibelman's son Jacob lived in London. According to Duckesz he was a son of Meier. Has anyone seen the evidence?

Looking forward to your comments!

Best wishes,

Jona
