FamilytreeDNA have change my confirmed haplogroup and it has no Scientific reason or understanding, and I have told them for my Scientific Purposes of study, Into the mutations in my familys Y DNA I have purchased off of familytreeDNA 3 Y-DNA kits so we could compare our places on the Y branch they confirmed my haplogroup R-BY41654 on july 11th 2021, and after my fathers Big Y-DNA was Confirmed on sep 13th 2021 it has now changed to a haplogroup R-FTB1178 and we no that my DNA haplogroup is much older than his is because of a back mutation in my DNA . This is affecting my Family’s research as i was studying these mutations that have happened in my familys Y-DNA and my brother still has his sample to send for analysis and they are now not showing the different results properly and below i have included the response of the Big Y specialist and it has also taken about two weeks for this response. My problem with this response is that if you look in the screenshots provided on my profile you can see they have still left my branch in the block tree showing no matches and no countries and placed me next to it in a branch with my farther, and so this further so called refinement has ruined my study as it seems pointless to use the third kit if they are not going to show our different placement on this branch in the Block tree. Anyones opinion or advice on what has happened would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Martin,
Thank you for contacting FamilyTreeDNA. Both you and your father, as a result of the completion of his test are more closely related to one another which is why you form a branch together. Both of you still descend from R-BY41654 but then you are more closely related with one another you form a subclade with further refinement.
