While most refer to Nancy Hendrix as his wife, she is indeed his second wife.
I am searching for his first wife, with whom he had at least two children with: Sarah Jane Jennings Burget/Burgat/Burkett and Jonathan David Jennings. Both were born in Missouri, where their mother presumably died. Sarah Jane is 10-11yrs older than Nancy Hendrix. SJ and JD are listed as living with HJ and NHJ in Texas, where their other children were born.
Any help in this area is appreciated.
I do have the Barry County MO genealogy department trying to help, but they are very busy with other cases at this time. I have reached out to several FB groups in the area as well.
As Hilliard was a farmer, I'm not sure how many records were kept, The 1840 census shows his name and household in numbers of gender and ages, no names. Clearly before marriage to NHJ). There are Tax Roll records of his ownership in TX.
