Yes, he's my 21st great grandfather too. I'm just wondering whether the information on the family's own website would be more accurate than the one listed here. There also seem to be profiles of his sons/brothers with that alternative information.

Private User there's no reason to give extra weight to a website just because it has "Buxhoeveden" in it's server name. The site looks devoid of sources to me.

Alex Moes Fair enough, I just haven't really found any sources that confirm the status quo either. I'd be happy to be pointed towards them, though.

The possible confusion could be explained by an "Archbishop Hartwig" being often named as Albert of Riga's uncle.

One, Hartwig I, is a brother of Gudela von Stade.

Another, Hartwig II, is a half-brother of Alheid von Aumund (who could easily be the same person as Alheidis von Bederkesa). Their mother, on the other hand, is presumed to be a daughter of Odalricus/Alvericus von Stade, so the von Stade connection still remains.

I face the same issues often with these trees. I found it to be better to leave actual research to someone who can read the languages (which are often in german) in these sources on top of being able to read gothic letters. I fixed a Taube path in my tree on myheritage, because I noticed mistakes even though the source was fairly clear, in my opinion. However, it was easy to get confused if you didn’t pay attention. There were people with the same names, but did not share the same parents etc.
