William Ijams, I - Help! HELP! HORRIBLE MESS!

I don't see any issues on his profile right now so I am thinking perhaps a profile connected to him is having recent problems?

A name that jumps out for me from his children list is Susanah Fowler because of the Fowler and Browne

I am primary manager for William's wife Elizabeth Ijams . The Revision tabs are not very helpful for Smart copy and Gedcom changes that happen to a profile...

I think the problem for some may be due to the connection to these people: Elizabeth Glover-Moore and her father Robert Brown, Capt. to Barbados ... it's the Barbados/Native American situation. IMHO.

No, somebody carelessly added duplicate Stockett and Plummer and Ijams and etc. trees. I just got through merging FOUR "Elizabeth Stockett/Yate" profiles, and merging and merging and merging others ad infinitum - many of the dups had *no* manager name.

But there's still so horrifically much to re-do!

The problem appears to be on the Cheney side, actually. Somebody, or more than one person, crash-merged an "Elizabeth Cheney" with a BLANK husband.

As a result there is an insane overduplication of Ijams child profiles - and their husbands/wives, and *their* children.

*The same thing* happened to the Stockett, Plummer, and Yates trees, for basically the same reason (careless, wanton crash-merging).

I don't know how far this is going to go or how wide it has already spread, but it's already BAD.

There are also problems *above* Elizabeth Cheney Ijams - who by the way is my direct ancestor - namely an attempt to graft in a duplicate "Mary Charity Woodward" who was apparently picked up out of the discard bucket. If accepted, this would have led to a whole long chain of duplicate Cheneys.

There's enough trouble with the Cheneys as it is, considering that Richard Cheney the immigrant *cannot* be the son of Richard Cheney m. Anne Ellinor (*that* Richard Cheney died *before 1625* with but one child to his name, a son Bartholomew - NOT Richard).

But nobody wants to touch *that* live wire....

Okay. We now have two copies of Benjamin Cheney:

Benjamin Cheney married (double?) first cousin Ruth Cheney, ten children (none are on Geni).

Benjamin Cheney "married" a "Mary Powell" whose "father" does not share her birth name, one child. "Mary" cannot be documented through the usual sources, may be fictional.

Asking Chrators to merge WIlliam Ijams I with BLANK profile - a lock is preventing anyone else from doing it.

Richard Iiams has three wives, one of whim claims to be an undocumented "Plummer". Extant records give him two, and neither one a Plummer.

Elizabeth Duvall has duplicate husbands, Capt. Daniel Clarke and Capt. Daniel Clarke

Mary Cheney : Something fishy here.

Birth name "Williams".
Father's name Richard Rydell (NOT Williams).
Mother's name Eleanor Pindell(!) - same as second wife of Richard Cheney the Immigrant!

Stepsibs marrying is inevitable in a very small gene pool - but why is her father's name "Rydell" and not "Williams"? Why is there no "Williams" in the picture at all?
