Elizabeth, the husband of Nathaniel Fitzrandolph is not Elizabeth "Pike", but Elizaberth Bloosom. Pike may be a name from a marriage, but the Blossom name is important name and it is the family she is from. I don't know why Geni.com has this habit, while other genealogy sites like Ancestry.com say having the correct last name which is the born family name is important for connecting individuals in searches, and I agree.
In my ancestry research, I ended up discovering the Blossom name was connected to other ancestors of mine and it's nice to see the lineage laid out with the Blossom name.
Please can we change this profile's displayed name, etc., and any other that is similar?
Thanks.
David
You want to change your own display preferences to “show birth surname only.”
You do that from this link
https://www.geni.com/account_settings/name_preferences/363677820350011581
https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038433653-What-is-the-Bi...
Geni uses the term Birth Surname for what is commonly referred to as "maiden name" in other software. It is intended to be the person's family name at the time of their birth, whether male or female, whether eventually married or not.
That name preference link should be just https://www.geni.com/account_settings/name_preferences/ if others are having problems loading it
And thanks, Erica--I didn't realize it had so many view options so I've just been annoyed at it for a while, didn't realize it was so simple to remedy.
