Kia ora my name is Sian Schindler and I am trying to find any information on my Grandmother who was adopted so archive records state. These Files are sealed for 100yrs. She went by a few alias Her married Name was Elizabeth Jane Beazley from Ngati Awa Whakatane, to my father, but unable to connect her to the area? her Divorce sealed files has the Name Te Whakaaroanui Schindler as well as Elizabeth Jane Schindler, and the Maori Land records show her as Whakaaroanui Shindler without the C in the surname. When looking up the shareholders there is no Whakaaroanui Shindler but is a Whakaaroaniui Whakaruru. She would Have been from the Taranaki Region Hawera. This is where I think she meet my Grandfather Terrance William Schindler, who at the time Migrated to New Zealand From Germany and work on the Railway lines they Married and she Took the Last name Schindler, they had 4 children together my father included. She ended up diagnosed with schizophrenia and after been taken to court and charged with GBH on my grandfather she spent quite a few years in the Tokanui Psychiatric Hospital, this is Where my father would have spent most of his childhood until been Adopted in his youth. Not much is known of our grandmother and who her real Birth Name is and our whanau Whakapapa I believe I have got the Whakaruru Whanau name right as to her birth name and think she could have been Whangai and possible where Beazley come from??? it is very hard to know as with schizophrenia she wasn't of stable mind. If there is any Whakaruru Descendants that could help me connect the dots to my kuia and the whanau and help with our missing whakapapa lineage, my siblings and father would be so appreciative.
