It is believed that Lydia's parents were French. She was taken by privateers from a Spanish ship, where she had been held as a prisoner. The British privateers overtook this ship and carried the little captive Lydia onto their ship. She was raised in America and later married one of the officers of that rescue ship. She lived and died in what was then Bladen County NC. I have not seen any information detailing what happened to her parents, if she was just taken from them or if they were killed by the Spanish pirates. This is the first time that I have seen any information about her parents. She was my gggg grandmother.
