My question is a GENERAL one. This type of situation comes up often when searching the older records because they often have little detail. In some cases, I might have 2 or 3 candidate birth records for the same person, but I don't want to choose a specific one, because it might be the wrong choice, and I have no real evidence for the relationship. There could be a "candidate death record" for a person.

HOW SHOULD A "CANDIDATE RECORD" SITUATION BE IDENTIFIED ON A PROFILE?

Make a section within the profile “about.”

Research notes

  • Possibly the child of X & Y

And link within the about (not the tree) to the geni profiles for X & Y.

In the profiles for x & y “about,” link the child.

Also a discussion, tagging all three. And any other candidates. Then you’ll be more easily able to review.

Thank you, Erica. It took me a while to figure out how to do it, but I did and it works! A great tool for such situations!

Glad it helps.
