The first year of Radom ID card applications (1934) - with photos -
is now searchable on the JRI-Poland database at https://jri-poland.org/

This is a unique project warranting special attention by JRI-Poland
for which I and all Radom researchers express their thanks.

While there are surviving ID requests from 1929 to 1934 in the Radom
collection, a decision was made to fast track 1934, the only complete
year currently available with online scans, in order to put the wheels
in motion to obtain and extract the remaining years.

Municipality issued identity booklets (ID Cards), differentiated from
passports used for foreign travel, were available in Poland from 1928.
The request forms for these IDs include critical vital data of date
and place of birth, parentage and occupation, as well as attached
photos. While the prerequisite for a Radom ID Card was residence in
the city, nearly one-third of the Jewish applicants in 1934 were born
in other towns.

The full project description is found here:

Special thanks to Susan Weinberg, Radom Kehlilalink Webmaster with
whom I collaborated to identify and extract the vital details from the
Jewish documents in this collection. We both eagerly await the next
year of scans.
