I agree with you Philip - I always use the original names of the places where relatives were born ie Cape Colony, Orange Free State and the Transvaal or ZA Republic. I will never use these awful new South African names which only the Zulu's and the Khosa should use as they mainly refer to their people. Most people living overseas wouldn't have a clue where these place are and I am sure many Blacks have no idea as well. I would never use the name Gauteng as ' vir my bly die Transvaal altyd Transvaal !
