It always confuses me when the family names don't match and there's no explanation Was this person married to a Stephens or why isn't she shown with maiden name Godfrey? I also see on Ancestry that some have her as the mother of her husband Thomas' daughter Elizabeth, which would make her my direct anctors, IF she was actually Elizabeth's mother.

I ran my kit to a few of the ones in the avatar and I match all the ones I checked, but I match some on ch 19 anywhere from 34.4-43.8 and I match others on ch 19 but on varying spots, like 3.2-3.9 and 6.4-8.2. When I saw that happening, I stopped compariing, as it seems I'm matching everyone in the group 'somewhere' on ch 19.

Geni shows my pahtway as a cousin via the Godrey line, but my main question is was she actually Elizabeth Moore's mother as shown in some Ancestry trees or was she her step-mother?

Thanks for any clarification.

Full match for majority of participants, some up to 15 cM. Not half matches so not a step mother scenario. Godfrey, Stephens, Wright, Bridgers Cluster
6th gg of 23andMe Moore/Cole/Thompson/Akins/Stephenson cousins from WY,OH, Floyd's of AL and for these "Pinetuckianss" who are still connected in sister communities from the time of Jackson's front line of those attending the War of 1812 's front line in the Battle of New Orleans which front line was manned by the Choctaw and the Pinetuckians with some Old Cheraw and some transfer Southern Tuscororans. The reason that the name is Stevens is due to being brought up by a different family and that is why we did not know who she was and that is where mirror tree work can and does find distanct relations with plenty of endogamy and enough participants to paint the picture. That you do not match there is not a determination factor not actually being direct. What would be important is if your group of kits you manage in your lines to said cluster of people, if your degree of distance on the app that is Matches Two or More, in the same way, over a period of time gathering everyone's matches and ruling out why they do match and in what way. This group called a cluster of people was 6 gens back and 23andMe did most of the work to the 5th generation. When you get a zero distance chart of a lot of kin at full matches matching on the same segment, you have yourself a signature SNP.

Well, that clarifies the reason her surname is different. My stepmother question was specific to Elizabeth Moore and I'm still unclear if she was Elizabeth's biological mother or not? I haven't been tested with 23andme yet, so I don't have access to their tools. Anyway, thanks for clarifying about how the name Stevens / Stephens got into the mix.
