Gideon Slabbert's profile contains amongst others two daughters, one called Cornelia and the second named Neeltje. The first was christened on 25 Dec 1736 named "Neeltje".

The second was similarly christened "Neeltje" on 1 Oct 1754.

The Geni profiles claim that Johannes Frederik Koegelenberg married Neeltje born in 1736 at NGK Swartland on 22 Mar 1761.

My concern is: Are the records correct in stating that Koegelenberg married Neeltje who was born in 1736 and not the younger one born in 1745? I suppose fiinding something like the DN's of these individuals shouls provide the answers.

I would suggest that Neeltjje, christened in 1736, died before the end of 1744.

Gideon and Francina then decided to name their daughter, born before 10 1 1745, also Neeltje, and christened her on 10 1 1745.

It is most unlikely that they would have 2 children with the same name, alive at the same time.

This ,means that Neeltje was around 16 years old when she became married to Johannes Koegelenberg in 1761. A bit young, perhaps, but not unknown at this time.
