What sources do we have for James Wright & Jane Wright as parents of Capt. William Wright & Joseph Wright, SV/PROG
Hello this i have received some time ago from the Nottingham Family History Society:
We have searched the Nottinghamshire Family History Society databases of baptism, marriages and burials and have located the following information. Please note that the databases are not 100% complete for the whole county:
• 2 Dec 1783, marriage of James Wright and Jane Whittle at Nottingham, St Mary’s church, both of this parish
• 18 Apr 1762, baptism of Jane Whittle at Nottingham, St Peter, parents = Thomas and Ann Whittle, father’s occupation = shoemaker
There are many burials for Jane Wright, however the following seem to be the most likely, due to the ages given and the location:
• 26 June 1814, Jane Wright, age 52, buried at Nottingham, St Mary, abode = lunatic asylum
• 27 Aug 1822, Jane Wright, age 66, buried at Nottingham, St Mary, abode = bridge -foot
There are 6 baptisms for James Wright listed between 1755 and 1765, of these the following seem the most likely as they took place in Nottingham at about the right date:
• 21 Dec 1761, baptism of James Wright at Nottingham, St Mary, parents = William and Margaret Wright
• 10 June 1764, baptism of James Wright at Nottingham, St Mary, parents = William and Elisabeth Wright
There are 8 children listed with parents James and Jane Wright, all baptised at Nottingham, St Mary, between 1785 and 1807:
• Elizabeth, 3 Apr 1785
• Jane, 16 Apr 1787
• Harriot Mary, 21 Feb 1790
• James, 18 Feb 1794
• William, 17 Mar 1797
• Joseph, 13 May 1799
• Ann, 24 Mar 1803
• Mary, 6 Sep 1807
As expected there are numerous burials for James Wright, and several in Nottingham. The database does not give ages for all of the individuals, we can therefore only guess at possible matches.
I do apologise - but this is a link to my Ancestry tree (it has a few people on it, but I think you should have a search feature, so should be able to find the William Wright without issue) I hope this helps/works!?
