John Townsend - Parentage

Looks there are 2 John TOWNSEND's that have been confused

1) born in England, son of William TOWNSEND and Mary Ann GILL, who emigrated to Australia
2) born in Australia, son of John TOWNSEND and Maria DUKE

We need to

• find out when the John born in England, arrived in Australia
• see if we can determine which John married Mary Ann Russell NEWITT
• which one died in 1917 and when the other one died.

William TOWNSEND and Mary Ann GILL were in Australia prior to John's birth.

I wonder what the source of the English birth and baptism's were?

It also has him on the English 1861 census

This is obviously not this John TOWNSEND

I found some notes on a forum that male descendants of John TOWNSEND's have different male 37 marker results from male descendants of William TOWNSEND.

It didn't contain a lot of useful detail - different DNA could be an NPE or John is not William's son.

With his birth record stating his parents as the son of John and Mary and no contrary supporting information I will

• disconnect John Townsend from parents William Townsend, {Australian Immigrant} and Mary Ann Townsend
• leave him connected to parents John Townsend and Maria / Mary Townsend
