This profile is NOT Ariaentje Adriana Cuvellier, 1589 - 1655, who married "Old Jan" Jansen Damen and William Vigne, and who is represented by this other profile here: Adrienne Cuvellier

Instead, she is an unknown wife of the supposed father of Dirck de Noorman (Volckertszen) (1595 - 1677). That father is alternately identified as Volkert Noorman Volkertszen (Volkertsen) (1574 - 1632) or Volkert Viele (1560 - d.) from Vejle, Denmark, and possibly originally from Norway.

Adrienne (Cuvelier) Cuvellier is also NOT the mother of Dirck de Noorman (Volckertszen) . She is actually the mother of Dirk's wife, Christina (Christine) Vigne (1612-1663).

It is also commonly presumed that Dirk's brother is Cornelis Volkertsen Viele (1584 - 1649). However, no evidence confirms that these two men were brothers, or ever even associated with each other in New Netherland.

So to help rationalized this tree in the easiest way possible, without making too much more of a merge and marriage mess, I am simply going to change Adrienne's identity here to Unknown.

I suggest going one further and just deleting NN NN NN

I also find it very hard to believe that "Volkert Noorman Volkertszen (Volkertsen)" is not just a made up name. Volkert (?)

I cannot see anything in Dirck de Noorman's profile that resembles evidence of who his parents might be, I am thinking that deleting them both and locking his profile so that none can be connected is the best plan.

Well, the only case I would make against deletion is that the same profiles are sure to be imported again and again. So it just becomes easier to merge those as they come in, rather than to continuously delete. And if people see a missing profile, rather than an "Unknown" placeholder profile, it encourages them to add a parent.

Even WikiTree shows "Volkert Viele" as the father, which then leads to a full discussion page about the issues, as we have here. And we do have Dircks patronym, Volkerts, it seems. So we do know that the father was a Volkert. But we just don't know if he was a Volkert from anywyere like Viele, or Noorman.

So with all that in mind, I will defer to Curators on how to notate and lock it.

My experience is the same as Steve’s. Geni members abhor a vacuum. I am able to maintain cleaner tree with placeholder profiles to indicate: we know this person to be unknown. Also, it’s difficult to move around the children of single parent profiles.

The death date of Volkert of Apr 30 1632 is very specific so it's probably connected to an actual event.

I've deleted most of the data as pure conjecture or just incorrect and locked most of the fields.

I also disconnected Cornelis Veile.
