Charles Leon Newton Speare - How Charles and Sceva are related and how they connect to the Geni tree

Since it was a bit painful to find this, I'll paste in my notes here for future reference. Charles' step father, Moses (page 169 &173) is the first cousin of Sceva's father Elisha (p. 206), both being grandchildren of Dr. Moses Spear (p.166) and Judith Pierce. Elisha's mother is Abigail (p168,204) and Moses's father is Abigail's brother Jacob (p. 168)

This explains why Sceva would publish Charles' book for him. They were second cousins. And also, the book was (partly) about him.

In addition, Abigail and Jacob are first cousins of my 3rd great-grandmother, Sally Latham Benjamin (Spear) (p. 94). They're all descended from Deacon Moses Spear (1735-1813) (p. 88).

Sceva was buried by a family marker containing the names Speare, Goodrich and Newton. The Newton is for his sister-in-law who married a Leslie Hunt Newton but I couldn't find any relation to Carlos Newton.
