Hello everyone. I recently updated my DNA results via FTDNA. I followed the instructions to disconnect my account and then to reconnect. However, I don't think the disconnect took effect (haven't checked today) and I definitely can't reconnect. I get a message telling me there's a problem and that Geni.com will send me a message when it's resolved.

I ran into similar problems trying to update my dad's DNA results a few months back. For whatever reasons, and I followed the instructions to the letter, it changed on my profile (my dad's YDNA) but not on my dad's profile. And I didn't get a message at that time regarding issues with changing or reconnecting to anything.

Is this something that will be long term or ??? No pressure on anyone, just curious.

Thank you.

It has been broken since Feb.12.
Geni knows about it - https://www.geni.com/discussions/157595?msg=1458493 is Geni's General Manager on March 12th saying "There is currently a problem with FTDNA sending the data to us. We are working with them to try to get it resolved."
No update since then. Except they finally started sending folks the message you mention when they try to connect.

On the other hand, you should have gotten an email from FTDNA recently, at least if you have Family Finder results. On July 1 FTDNA just changed the design of their Match screen and switched to recalculated shared cMs, longest segments, and relationship ranges for all the profiles.
So the numbers on Geni no longer match the numbers at FTDNA.
No idea if the fact they were working on that had anything to do with the connecting stopping, or if FTDNA's new owners did not like the arrangement or needed to think about it first.
So far, neither side is saying it is permanently over, so maybe it will start up again some time.

Someone posted today in one of FTDNA's Forums:

"One person got this response from FTDNA support yesterday:
"Unfortunately, for now, the Geni transfer option has been disabled.

We hope to fix this within the following months, but we do not have an official date."

So it seems that there won't be a quick fix."
