Trying to establish a link between Sarah and Peter Sampson and John Sampson b. 1800 in England.
I have anecdotal history from current family for the following:

Peter Sampson b about 1765 London sent to NSW Penal Settlement on the Scarborough 1st Fleet
John Sampson b 1800 Cornwall England m. Jane Anne Hounding b. 1812 Sydney Australia
Robert Sampson b 1844 Sydney Australia m. Jane Elizabeth George b.1848 Leistershire England
Henry James Sampson b. 1876 Sydney Australia m. Jessie Muir b.1882 Forbes NSW

It has been suggested Sarah Taylor did not have children so either;

1. Peter returned to England where his son John Sampson was born to another
2. John returned to Australia to marry Jane Hounding or
3. We have the wrong John Sampson

There is very little know about Peter SAMPSON prior to conviction - he was tried on 7/7/1784 and his age was unknown. No family were noted on his trial.

Peter SAMPSON married Sarah TAYLOR on 20/7/1790 and then he disappeared from records in Australia.
As far as I know there is no evidence that he left the colony.

How and when did John SAMPSON born 1800 England arrive in Australia?

What evidence do you have that connects John the convict with the John born in 1800?

It seems I had the wife of John incorrectly. It is in fact Jane Holmden. I have this connection via Geni, My heritage and family trees passed down to me from my wife’s family.

I have no connection to Peter Sampson or Sarah Taylor.. that it is what I am trying to determine.
