@John Andrews is not the Jack Andrews that you are referencing.

John William Madison Andrews (1875-1942) Is the son of the John Andrews that you are referencing. He was known as William Andrews. He was married first to Bessie, who died and left him with two young daughters. He was then married to Edna Erle Stoner, my grandfather's first cousin, and they had two more daughters.

There is a Jack Andrews (1857-1911) buried in the same cemetery, but that is not his father, I believe. This Jack's son is Jack Andrews (1905-1952).

It is not clear to me whether the referenced John Andrews is the father of William or if he is in fact the Jack Williams buried in the cemetery.

It is also curious that his sister Selina Andrews would be your husband's ancestor, since Andrews would have been her maiden name.

Taking another look, I see that William's father John Andrew's parents are Robert and Salina Andrews. I assume that your husband is descended from one of John's siblings.

Hi, yes my husband is Donald Andrews his brothers are Jack and Chris Andrews. All 3 are reverend's.

I can prove my work. If you search John Andrews you
Will find him on a 1910 census in Monrovia Al in Madison County and he is married to Mary Ray, Mary Ray is definitely my husband's great grandmother. Notice he used the name John. They are buried together in the same grave. But the grave says Jack.

I had dismissed Salina and Robert as being Jack's parents. The numbers did not add up for his age. Till i found an aticle in newspapers.com. i found a small clipping of a W.M. Andrews listed on probate for Jack Andrews in 1911 Huntsville newspaper.
It sent me on the quest as to why? And who? could he be his son? Nephew? I found that probate snippet this past Christmas. I rechecked John, Bascomb W, Robert B, William Madison, and they all confused me and again numbers ages didn't add up. I was super frustrated. So i left it alone till a few days ago. I had my white boards ready. I did a
Time line. I particularly paid extra close attention to ages and marriage years. The 1860 census ages of John and
Bascomb are 10 and 9. If they were 10 and 9 It puts their birth years as 1851 & 1852. So when they got married Feb
17th 1873 John would of been about 21. So if you look at the marriage records of John and Bascome in 1873 Madison county record where they married a West and a Cunningham they signed for each other stateing they were over the age of 21. He lied and Bascomb signed for him. Next you see him on the 1880s census and John puts his
Age as 22, if you were 21 in 1873 then iyou would be 27 in 1880 Margaret, Robert, and WM are on that census. I dont know when they were divorced. After the 1880 census i can't find John or Jack till 1910. I find John married to my husband's great grandmother. If you look at Margaret Cunningham's find a grave and compare it to Jack's and Mary's they are all in the same row all next to each other. Also if you check out Jack's find a grave click on memorial. It says his father was a Robert. Also when i used my white board it showed no history of Jack 1850 all the way till 1904 when he marries Mary Ray and then he dies in 1911. If you search John you find him all they way from 1860 all the way to 1880 to 1910 a John married to a Mary Ray. But the newspaper clipping put William Madison in charge of his probate.

I can send you the clipping, you can email me at dkandrews28@gmail.com

Thanks, Karen

Interesting.

Questions:

How does your husband and his brothers connect to the tree? Who are his parents, grandparents, etc, and what are their dob, dod, etc?

What do you mean by Margaret Cunningham's fag file? I don't find it.

Why would Jack Sr. have two sons named John, John William Madison Andrews and Jack Andrew, Jr.?

Jack Sr's obit in FAG says he had eight children. It is entirely possible that Jack Sr. had several children by Margret and several more by Mary. Geni has even flagged John's file to say he was only fifteen when he was married.

Hi, what I am saying is after John and Margaret
Divorced he later remarried, he married Mary Ray and
Had another family starting in 1904. If you check Tn marriage records you will see that he used the name Jack
6 yrs later you can see him and Mary and their children on the 1910 Monrovia census he had Birdie, Mongovia, Jack Jr and Maggie. They list his name as John on that census. Not till the other day I finally 🙌 figured it out. A year later Jack dies and is buried in Maple Hill. She is buried with him later on. If you check Margaret's grave info she is also buried in the same row. You can double check that as a proof that our Jack Andrews Sr. Is the son of Salina and Robert Andrews. Also the snippet in the newspaper in 1911 that Jack's grown son John William Madison Andrews was named in the paper in the probate ad for Jack Andrews.

I could never figure out why there was no history of Jack Sr . I only knew from his marriage to Mary Ray in 1904. I could never find him on any other census with Robert as the father. Till i found the little ad in the 1911 paper with John William Madison Andrews. And really the ad said W.M. Andrews. I had to really dig and think.

Your John is our Jack Sr. my husband's great grandfather.
Didn't you ever wonder about where John went? After the 1880s census?

As far as Margaret and John having more children. They may have had a son George. If you look at that same 1910 census in Monrovia, right next to John and Mary's
House is a 27 year old Geo Andrews living with his very young wife. I suspect that is John and Mary's son.

This family is actually the in-laws of my first cousin thrice removed Edna Erle Stoner Andrews, so I never had too much interest in them. I "inherited" the tree from one of her grandsons (who would be kin to you) when he lost interest in the tree.

It's been an interesting exercise, and I'm glad to help you.

I'm going to connect you to the tree and send you an invitation to join the tree.

I have added you to the tree. I have invited you to join the tree. You should receive an email inviting you to join the tree. Once you accept, you will have full access to that part of the tree with the ability to add other family members, add dates and places, correct names, add pictures, etc. If you do not get the email, try looking in your junk mail. Let me know if you can't find it, and I will try to figure out why not.

I wish you would directly email me. I have census materials. Probate mention in newspaper.

While I do have a photo of Mary Ray Andrews with her children. I do not have any photos of John "Jack".

I would love to send a picture of my timeline.

Thanks Karen
