After exhausting all resources, I can find no proof
Captain James Montgomery, I and
Anne Montgomery) were the parents of Hugh Montgomery, born in 1720.
Historians, genealogists over the years assumed they were his parents. I saw it so many times online, thought it was a fact myself until I was looking for the paper trail.
I found Birth records for James and Anne’s other children, but no Hugh Montgomery being born, nor being mentioned with this family.
He migrated to the American Colonies with General Richard Montgomery born in 1718, assumption of near kinship, but again no proof.
Opened a public discussion and suggesting making note of parentage and disconnecting.
His Profile needs cleanup- remove any mention of Capt. James Montgomery and Anne Thompson being the parents.
