Henry Faunt, son of Robert & Susanna, is very elusive. There is a baptism for him in Fishtoft on 4t hjan 1787, implying a birth in December 1786.
However, I find no provenance on line for the death, which is so confidently recorded in several trees as 3 Feb 1856 in St Andrew's, Fyfe, Scotland. Scotland's People does NOT record ANYTHING for him, although later Henry Faunts are recorded - they are of the Faunts that settled in Haddington, East Lothian. I have researched all of these. other Faunts connected with the latter also went to Scotland, briefly. It is an highly unique name in Scotland, and ALL from the same family.

Where does this death record for Henry Faunt in 1856 come from??? Please can ANYBODY tell me?

I have records of a Henry Faunt as a lieutenant in the 33rd & 34th Regiment of Foot, joining up in 1810, and in 2 Muster Rolls, and a Muster Roll in Canada for his being a Volunteer in the 3rd Coy London Volunteers (London Ontario, that is), so probably serving in Canada amongst other places, and a Land Tenure Census of 1851 in Adelaide, Ontario for a Henry Faunt. A new cutting in the Leicester Herald for 1834 mentions Lt Henry Faunt being granted discharge from the Army because he is going to settle in Canada.

is it possible that this is the same Henry Faunt - did he then come back to Scotland???

Does anybody out there have a clue? i am writing a family history but do not wish to include error or hearsay!

Thanks
