Hello i was researching my great great grandfathers father Robert or Robert John Kirkpatrick b 1817 Torthorwald and discovered his siblings and parents . William Kirkpatrick Robert father was a farmer at Barluith in Torthorwald and died at the age of 34 and is buried in the parish church graveyard . The mother Agnes Kirkpatrick b 1791 was also a Kirkpatrick by birth . They had three other children thats as much as i know about them . Robert or John Kirkpatrick who i researched i have no idea what happened to him . If this is anyone's Kirkpatrick family get in touch . I could have the wrong line but i discovered my 2great grandfather William Kirkpatrick b 1848 Balmaclellan Kirkudbrightshire d the Stoop Dumfries 1925 parents Robert or John or Robert John Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth Wallace, had been involved in a paternity case in 1849 at Dumfries over young William . Robert or Robert John was jailed twice over child maintenance and served time for that and non payment of fines im sure . The case identified Robert as a Cloggmaker from Torthorwald . Then i looked at young William OPR his father was called John Kirkpatrick mother Elizabeth Wallace. Every other document has his father as Robert Kirkpatrick. Therefore he was either Robert or John or Robert John . Then i looked for William on the 1851 census at Balmaclellan with his mother parents Samuel Wallace and Agnes Forrest . Looking at Robert he was on the 1841 census Torthorwald village with his mother Agnes b 1791 and Robert b 1821 Torthorwald occupation Cloggmaker . Then i looked for his parents found their children baptisms on several sites then their father William the grandfather 1790 to 1825 death record at Torthorwald Chris
