He was my g-grandfather and was never, to my knowledge, referred to as "Charley". Always Charles. Graduated from Union College (Schenectady, NY) 1859 and subsequently attended Bangor Theological Seminary but graduated from Auburn Theological Seminary. Became an itinerant Congregationalist pastor and had 5 children with wife Harriet L. (Bunn) Conant.
Best to substitute "Charles" for "Charley", methinks.
