John Carlow was born in 1751 on the ship PRISCILLA. 1751 Sailing can be found in Bay Pioneers by Wilford W Whitaker and Gary T Horlacher, published by Picton Press, Rockport, 1998 & 2002.

The route of the PRISCILLA in 1751, found on pgs 49+, and a reconstructed passenger list, pgs 55-60, gives passengers and on
pg 57 is shown: "Jacob Carlo (Carlor?), w Elizabeth , s John b at sea 17 Oct 1751"[with no other details for them].

Joseph Crellius of Philadelphia..."By May 1751, recruited a shipload of [German] immigrants. He brought them from the mouth of the Ruhr down the Rhine to Rotterdam in two transports. After delays in finding a ship, the emigrants boarded the PRISCILLA in June 1751, commanded by Captain Brown. The PRISCILLA touched in Cowes, England, as was the custom. After another long delay they sailed from England on 31 July 1751. Finally they landed in Boston 28 October (or 9 Nov 1751) with about 200 Palatines in 50 families, after an exceptionally long voyage against headwinds."...

The descriptions of the routes of the Ships Lydia in 1742; the Priscilla in 1751; the St. Andrew; in 1752 and the Elisabeth in 1753 appear to be accurate. However, I would advise cautions in Chapters 4 -12 when researching the various families. I would suggest using the lists as guides and seek primary records for verification. In researching 2 families, Eichhorn and Carlow, I found discrepancies worthy of further discoveries.

Let's NOT confuse the

PRISCILLA - CARLOW passengers, whose descendants in censuses called them GERMAN. Several sources also indicate they were LUTHERANs

NOT to be confused with IRISH CARLOWs.
A different CARLOW line has its roots in IRELAND Very easy to mix up.
