It's just speculation on my part but it seems almost rude how the "not Norwegian" comments are presented.
- They insult familysearch.org as being unreliable which is absurd. All genealogy websites have the odd sloppy contributor.
- They demand proof he was born in Norway, but offer no proof themselves that he wasn't. Except a discussion from what they consider "flawless" individuals who clearly write "in my opinion". The links to these discussions no longer work so we can't even see their actual arguments.
- He was called the Norwegian. When the only evidence is circumstantial then we have to assume it is at least likely.
People from many countries fished off Norway. It's not unreasonable to assume a family camped/stayed in Norway for a season to fish and had a child there. Or perhaps he just lived there himself for a while and earned the nickname "the Norwegian". Given that many people seemed to have travelled to nearby countries for many reasons it seems strange that some insist he couldn't have been born there.
The arguments in the profile is clear enough: In my opinion when a young man gets married in the town Stade (in Holland) and says he's form Fridrichstadt, then the city (of his birth) should be identified with the city just north of Stade. In the same area, so to speak
Fridrichstadt is not in Norway, even if there are places with almost the same name there. People does not go far to find a wife, and if he was married in Stade telling he was from Fridrichstadt, not far from Fridrichstadt in Germany it seem to be the german city that is is birth place.
